A website for Alexander Private Tailor
About the project
Alexander Private Tailor is a bespoke tailoring business started by a Romanian tailor who worked for years in London, on Jermyn Street and Savile Row, before coming home and setting up on his own. The site had two things to do at once: tell that story credibly and let people ask for an appointment without detours. We built everything around those two.
The structure of the site
The menu says straight away what can be asked for: the tailor who travels to the client, the style consultation, Alexander's story, contact and the blog. Every page ends with the same invitation, a call or a message, so nobody has to go back to the contact page. The text is in English, because he was also talking to clients outside the country.
The appointments
On every page we put a short form: name, email, phone and the period the person wants the consultation. The call button stays permanently in view for anyone who would rather ring. The style consultation has its own page, with the three steps explained one by one: the first conversation, the first recommendation for an event or for a wardrobe, and the long-term work, once the measurements and preferences are already known.
The blog
The blog was meant as the place where Alexander answers the questions he gets at a first meeting anyway: how a suit is properly worn, how fabrics are chosen, what length a sleeve should be, pleats or a flat front on trousers, how a good jacket is looked after. They are short pieces that prepare somebody before they come through the door. For a tailor who works to order, that conversation saves time on both sides.
The site was built as a bridge between an old trade and the way people search today: they read for a few minutes, then ring or leave a message. The domain no longer responds, so the project is described as it was delivered.
