DQ Design — a website for a jewellery workshop in Bangkok
About the project
DQ Design is a jewellery workshop on Silom Road in Bangkok, producing to order for shops in several countries and sole agent for Marchisio 1859, the Italian house of hand-made gold chains. They work the whole way through, from sketch to finished piece. They needed an English-language site they could hand to a client or a partner met at a trade fair.
The website
It is a five-page site: the home page, the workshop, the services, the products and contact. The order follows the way a conversation with a new client goes — who they are, what they know how to do, what they have already done, how to find them. The contact details and the list of services repeat in the footer, so they are to hand from any page.
The story of the workshop
The page about the workshop is written around the founder, Phoungkaew Jiraporn. We kept her path — the years supervising production for a European company with a factory in Thailand, then her own workshop, opened in 1990 — because it explains where the standard of quality they promise comes from. The relationship with Marchisio 1859 appears there too.
The services and the collections
The services are listed briefly, in the order an order runs: from sketch to final design, the 3D CAD file, the model made by hand or by casting, the stones and the production itself. The products page is a gallery, with a note on where the collections can be seen in person — at the shop or at the jewellery fairs in Hong Kong, Bangkok and Sharjah. For dates and stand numbers, the visitor is sent straight to contact.

How it looks on a phone
More than 9 in 10 people open a website on their phone, so that is where it is decided. These screens come from the site as it runs today.
Everything is in English, because that is the language the workshop works in with clients abroad. It is deliberately short: enough to understand who you are talking to, the rest is discussed on the phone or at the stand.
