Casa Vatră — Restaurant & Hotel
About the project
Casa Vatră is a restaurant in Rădăuți, on Gării street, with a hotel in the same building and a good share of its business coming from private events, live music evenings and platter orders for the holidays. People struggled to find the menu and rang about everything, from booking a table to a question about the rooms. We built a site that holds the restaurant, the hotel and the menu in one place.
The website
The site is short and follows what gets asked most: where we are, what there is to eat, what events are coming, how to book. The restaurant and the hotel each have their own part, but they link to each other, because a lot of the people who sleep here eat here too. The phone number stays visible the whole way down the page, because bookings are still made over the phone more often than not.
The digital menu
The menu is organised by course — breakfast, starters, soups, fast food, fish and seafood, poultry, pork, beef and mutton, pasta, salads, lenten dishes, sides, side salads, desserts, platters, drinks — with the chef's specials brought to the front, with weights and ingredients. We built it to open straight from a phone and to be updated by them whenever the dishes or the prices change. The ordering buttons start from there too, through the delivery platforms or over the phone.
Bookings and events
The booking form works for a table and for a room alike: date, time, number of people, details. It says plainly that a phone confirmation follows, so nobody is left thinking the place is held automatically. We made separate sections for private events and for the platters ordered at the holidays, two things the restaurant does constantly.
The hotel
The hotel page shows the room types — double, twin and suite — what the stay includes and where it sits relative to the town centre. Underneath are the answers to the questions that kept coming over the phone: parking, check-in, check-out, breakfast, holiday vouchers. It is written starting from what gets asked on the phone.

How it looks on a phone
More than 9 in 10 people open a website on their phone, so that is where it is decided. These screens come from the site as it runs today.
We worked directly with the people in the restaurant, and the information on the site comes from them. The menu and the events change often, so the site was built to be easy to keep up.
