About the project

Castello di Bagnolo is a medieval castle in Bagnolo Piemonte, in the province of Cuneo, with an agricultural estate of more than fifty hectares around it: meadows, vineyards, orchards and centuries-old woodland. The family takes guests in holiday apartments made in old stone farmhouses, opens the castle and the park for visits and hosts weddings. Three different activities, with different audiences, that had to fit on one site without the visitor getting lost between them.

01

The three ways in

We split the main menu on exactly the three reasons somebody arrives there: farm stay, castle, weddings. Each has its own subpages, and the park, the events and the things-to-discover section sit alongside, as extensions for anyone who wants to see more of the place. Somebody looking for a room does not go through the wedding price lists, and the other way round.

02

The accommodation side

The farmhouses each have their own page, with the history of the building and the apartments that belong to it — and we kept their proper names, the way the owners say them, because guests come back asking for a particular apartment, not a category. On top of that we put the practical pages: the price list by season, the special offers, the arrival and departure information, what is included in the rent, how payment works. Everything usually asked by email before booking is written there.

03

The castle, the park and the weddings

For the castle we made the private visits page and the school programmes, two things organised differently and searched for separately. The wedding area has the venue page, a section for the couple and a price list that somebody collecting quotes can download. The wines produced on the estate and the events calendar round out the things-to-discover part.

04

The languages and contact

The site is in Italian, English and German, with the language switch in plain view at the top and at the bottom, because a good share of the guests come from outside Italy. The contact page gathers the address, the two booking numbers, the email address and a short form, and the social media and WhatsApp links are available from any page.

How it looks on a phone

More than 9 in 10 people open a website on their phone, so that is where it is decided. These screens come from the site as it runs today.

Each of the three sides of the place has its own route, but they all end in the same place: the booking request. A guest from Germany or England goes through the site in their own language, from the first page to the form.
